Informatics: Open Events

There are two major open competitions (i.e. open to any student entering through their schools and participating under school supervision)

  • Australian Informatics Competition (AIC), an entry level event held in May, requiring no programming or technology, but forming a useful identifier of programming skill. This is highly recommended for students who wish to be considered for selection for higher invitational activities which would lead to selection in Australian teams.
  • Australian Informatics Olympiad (AIO), held in September each year and before 2005 known as the AIC. This is a national computer programming competition which is required for students who wish to be considered for the higher invitational activities.
