Geoffrey Chu (pictured at the Romanian Presidential Palace after receiving his gold medal) achieved one of the five highest scores. Students from Romania, Hungary and Ukraine scored 39 and a student from Vietnam also scored 38. The next highest score was 36. Russia and China tied for the highest score, while Vietnam was 3rd, Romania 4th and Bulgaria 5th.

Australia was placed 15th of the 81 countries which participated.
